[6425] Senior Engineer (Core Services)

Requirements
• University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the design, implementation, integration, and deployment of enterprise IT infrastructure and Core Services solutions.
• Experience delivering infrastructure and CIS projects, including planning, design, deployment, migration, testing, and transition activities.
• Experience working within structured project delivery frameworks and governance processes.
• Proven experience in several of the following areas:
• Core Services.
• Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS).
• Group Policy management and enterprise identity services.
• DNS, DHCP, Certificate Services (PKI), and Federation Services.
• Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and hybrid identity solutions.
• Authentication, authorization, and access management.
• Microsoft Windows Server administration and engineering.
• Virtualisation platforms such as VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, or equivalent.
• Enterprise storage and backup solutions.
• High availability and disaster recovery.
• Server, network, and infrastructure integration.
• Infrastructure hardening and security best practices.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC), using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell DSC, or equivalent.
• Automated provisioning and configuration management.
• Hybrid cloud and private cloud environments.
• DevSecOps principles and practices within infrastructure and platform engineering.
• CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Source code management and version control systems such as Git.
• Security integration within automated build and deployment workflows.
• Automated testing, compliance validation, and security scanning.
• Cybersecurity principles, secure system design, and security hardening.
• Identity and access management, privileged access controls, and certificate-based authentication.
• Security accreditation, compliance, and risk management processes.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to translate business and operational requirements into technical solutions.
• Excellent documentation and technical writing skills.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with project teams, architects, security authorities, and stakeholders.

Duties & Role
• Plan, design, implement, integrate, validate, and deploy Core Services solutions across CIS environments.
• Develop technical designs aligned with project objectives, technical requirements, implementation schedules, and stakeholder expectations.
• Install, configure, integrate, test, and support Core Services components and associated infrastructure.
• Deliver infrastructure and CIS projects covering planning, design, deployment, migration, testing, and transition activities.
• Support system integration, testing, acceptance, deployment, and migration activities.
• Ensure delivered solutions are fit for purpose, interoperable, secure, and capable of supporting current and future operational requirements.
• Work closely with project teams, architects, security stakeholders, and operational authorities.
• Identify technical risks, issues, dependencies, and potential impacts, and support the development and implementation of mitigation actions.
• Contribute to technical coordination, quality assurance, and project governance activities.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, design artefacts, configuration documentation, and acceptance deliverables.
• Provide regular service reports covering assigned CIS and DCIS project activities.
• Report progress against agreed project plans, milestones, and deliverables.
• Report the status of design, integration, configuration, testing, deployment, and migration activities.
• Track achievement of key project objectives and technical deliverables.
• Document completed activities, planned activities, upcoming milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, and mitigation actions.
• Report on technical documentation, design artefacts, acceptance deliverables, and quality assurance activities.
• Identify and report non-conformities and support their resolution.
• Report resource utilisation and effort against assigned tasks where required.
• Escalate decisions, issues, and support requirements to NCIA stakeholders.
• Apply Core Services expertise across Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, PKI, Federation Services, Entra ID, Windows Server, virtualisation, storage, backup, and related infrastructure.
• Support infrastructure automation, provisioning, configuration management, and Infrastructure as Code activities.
• Apply secure system design, infrastructure hardening, identity and access management, and cybersecurity best practices.
• Support DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, compliance validation, and security scanning activities where required.
• Contribute to hybrid cloud, private cloud, containerisation, and orchestration activities where applicable.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and Core Services issues and provide appropriate technical solutions.
• Coordinate effectively with project teams, architects, security authorities, operational stakeholders, and other technical specialists.
• Manage multiple technical priorities and deliver assigned activities within agreed project schedules and quality objectives.
